How is the amount of child support determined in Florida?
Child support in Florida is determined by a mathematical formula, but that doesn’t mean that the formula itself is ironclad. Each parent is required to fill out a financial affidavit and based upon your income in the financial affidavit, not expenses, your income, and the number of overnights that each parent takes with their child. That is how child support is determined.
Then there’s some other factors that could trickle through such as health insurance, healthcare needs, daycare needs. Those factors also get calculated into child support and the numbers are then run through the formula as set by the legislature in Florida.
