Why should I hire a criminal defense attorney?
It’s very important to hire a criminal defense attorney for a number of reasons. An attorney will understand what your rights are. An attorney will look out for your interests. The prosecutor’s office is not required to look out for your interests and they probably won’t be looking out for your individual interests. They represent the state of Florida’s interests.
Once you hire an attorney, the attorney will go through your entire case with you and break down the different elements of it, and possibly come up with defenses that you didn’t know that you had available to you, negotiate better results that you couldn’t do on your own because your attorney will understand the ins and outs of the law, as well as the personalities involved in the courtroom.
The public defender’s office are also licensed attorneys and they have the same skill sets as private attorneys. The difference being that when you hire a private attorney, that private attorney has your particular case on his or her mind. Whereas a public defender’s office, they may have many more clients and that spreads out their ability to focus on the individuals. They’re very good attorneys. They’re qualified attorneys, but your own private attorney will give you more attention than you could ever expect to get from a public defender’s office.
